Márta Korbonits is Professor of Endocrinology and Metabolism, Co-Center Lead of Endocrinology, Deputy Director of the William Harvey Research Institute at Barts and the London School of Medicine, Queen Mary University of London, and Honorary Consultant at Barts Health NHS Trust. Prof. Korbonits graduated from Semmelweis Medical School, Budapest, and undertook her early clinical training in the Internal Medicine Department of the Postgraduate Medical School, Budapest. She performed research at St. Bartholomew’s Hospital, London, UK, where she earned her PhD.

Currently, Prof. Korbonits is working on the genetics of endocrine tumors as well as metabolic consequences of hormonal imbalances, including hypercortisolism. Prof. Korbonits has authored more than 230 original peer-reviewed articles in high-impact journals and numerous reviews and has an h- index of 83. A world-renowned expert in endocrinology, Prof. Korbonits has delivered over 300 invited lectures and presentations around the world. She is an elected member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and President of the Society for Endocrinology.

Prof. Korbonits has received many honors and awards during her career, most recently The Clinical Endocrinology Trust Lecturer, Society for Endocrinology, Glasgow (2021), the Gideon de Laune Lecturer, The Worshipful Society of Apothecaries, London (2021), and the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh Keynote Lecturer (2020). In 2015, she received the Delbert A. Fisher Scholar Award and in 2023 is the recipient of Gerald D. Aurbach Award for Outstanding Translational Research of the Endocrine Society.
