Richard Feelders MD, PhD

Prof. Richard Feelders is a Professor of Endocrinology at the Erasmus University Rotterdam Medical Center in the Netherlands. Prof. Feelders graduated with a medical degree in 1993 from Erasmus University. He was trained in internal medicine at Maasstad Hospital and Erasmus Medical Center in the Netherlands. He received his PhD at Erasmus University in 1999 and completed a fellowship in endocrinology from Erasmus Medical Center in 2001. Prof. Feelders was a Visiting Professor at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland, USA. He is currently Chair of the Adrenal Center Rotterdam and Coordinator of the ENETS GEP Neuroendocrine Tumor Center.  Since 2019, he has held the role of Adjunct Professor of Medicine at New York University.

Prof. Feelders’ main fields of patient care and scientific interest are the pathophysiology and treatment of pituitary adenomas, adrenal disorders, and neuroendocrine tumors, with a focus on the diagnosis and medical treatment of Cushing's syndrome. He conducts translational studies with in vitro assessment of hormone receptor expression by endocrine tumors, evaluation of efficacy of new compounds, and search for new therapeutic targets. In addition, he is a principal investigator for a large number of both investigator-initiated and industry-funded trials, and a main partner in the European Registry on Cushing’s Syndrome. He is the author of more than 290 peer-reviewed articles and medical papers, as well as 9 book chapters, and is an internationally recognized lecturer, with presentations at the annual meetings of the Endocrine Society and the European Congress of Endocrinology.
